Kumam Cultural Institution signs MoU with Reh Vocational institution to boost vocational education

In a bid to boost and expand access to vocational education in Kumam land, Reh Vocational institution located in Opyai A, has on Tuesday 31st 2026 entered into a strategic partnership with the Kumam cultural institution (KUCH).

The partnership that was formalized through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) before the Kumam cultural leader his highness Papa me Kumam, Raphael Otaya, aims at empowering the youth with skills development.

The Kumam leader welcomed the partnership and tasked the institute to follow the educational code of conduct for the benefit of the community.

He said the initiative will ease the financial burden on learners and encouraged more young people to pursue vocational education.

According to Stella Hellen Ariokot, the director and founder Reh Vocational institution, the MoU entails the training and skilling of 50 students interested in doing skills or national certificate in any of the courses offered such as; Hair dressing, catering tailoring, carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical installation, ITC, and electronics, among others.  

James Egonyu, the state minister of education and sports at the Kumam cultural heritage noted that, Under the terms of the agreement, the Kumam chiefdom has secured for the Kumam community a full bursary which will require them not paying school fees, except for the requirements and functional fees alone.

He says that according to the MoU, Kumam cultural heritage is tasked with mobilization of both the students and parents and impact Kumam cultural values to the trainees and parents.

The signing of the MoU was also witnessed by the ICT Minister Simon Ochen and David Opiding, state minister for justice and constitutional affairs.
