Won Ateker Intensifies Education Drive with Key Visits

His Royal Highness Raphael Otaya has stepped up efforts to transform education in Kumam land following high-level visits to Kaberamaido, Amolatar, Dokolo, Soroti, and Soroti City aimed at promoting education advancement and scholarship support.
During engagements held on March 26, 2026, in Amolatar District, and earlier in Kaberamaido, Dokolo, Soroti, and Soroti City, His Royal Highness Won Ateker met with key government officials including Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), District Education Officers (DEOs), and District Internal Security Officers (DIS) from across Kalaki, Kaberamaido, Amolatar, Dokolo, Soroti, and Soroti City.
The discussions focused on strengthening access to quality education, expanding scholarship opportunities, and improving learning conditions for both teachers and pupils across the region.

According to Simon Ochen, the Minister of ICT and information, the initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Kumam Cultural institution to address persistent challenges affecting education, including limited resources, inadequate school environments, and financial barriers faced by learners.
In a major development, the Kumam Cultural Heritage (KUCH) also signed a five-year renewable Memorandum of Understanding with an education consultant to support long-term education improvements in the region.
The partnership is expected to focus on creating a more conducive learning environment, supporting teachers, and providing social support to parents—an effort that will be funded through donor contributions.

The consultant, Dr. David Emmanuel Adengu, who serves as Academic Registrar at Kumi University and has also been appointed as a special envoy in the diaspora by the Won Ateker, will play a key role in mobilizing international support and linking the institution to potential donors.
