Government reviews the construction plans for KUCH palace

The government has reaffirmed plans for the construction of Kumam Cultural Heritage Palace in Soroti City after a fact finding visit to the authority on Wednesday 10th/ December/ 2025.

The team from the ministry of gender, labour and social development, led by Chris Opuch, the principal specialist construction engineer under the ministry confirmed this development noting that the visit to KUCH with a number of ministries and department agencies, the ministry of works and office of the prime minister is meant to review the work plans for the construction of the palace.

He says that the President made directive to the ministry of gender to have all the chiefdom and the cultural institutions have homes and offices, revealing that they are following a number of processes in regards to the construction plans for the KUCH palace, including securing land, the draft building plans, geotechnical plans among others.

However, Opuch notes that despite the size of land, they are going to devise means of fitting the palace into the given Land.

While responding to the concerns, his Royal Highness Won Ateker Papa me Kumam Raphael Otaya acknowledged the gaps citing limited land, inadequate space for parking and expansion, review of the architectural plans among others.
He clarified that they will install the sign post for easy directions, public review of plans and cooperate with the government for smooth construction of the palace.

However, Simon Ochen the information minister KUCH, commended the team for timely response to aid the steady construction review of the plan for the construction of the KUCH Palace.
