KUCH Deputy Premier flags off the 2nd meeting for Ateker cup of Nations tournament
In preparations for the forth coming Second edition of the Ateker Cup of Nations, Kumam Cultural heritage has kick started activities geared towards taking part in this big historical event.
An Inaugural Meeting was on Sunday 5th July 2026 held and presided over by 2nd Deputy Prime Minister Kumam Cultural Heritage, Mr. Peter Ekilu, at Kalaki Resort hotel. It was graced by Dr. Eunice Aboyo, the Senior advisor to Papa me Kumam.
According to PM Peter Ekilu, the meeting was to help formulate different working committees, budgeting, call for sponsorship from our politicians and institutions.

Meanwhile, on wednesday 8th July 2026, the second meeting was held, and attended by KUCH ministers and the technical team at Kalaki Resort hotel. This was chaired by the Deputy Minister of sports in KUCH James Egonyu, and was also attended by members from the districts of Kalaki, Kaberamaido, Soroti district/City, Amolatar and Dokolo district.
While giving his remarks, deputy Prime Minister, Peter Ekilu called upon the Kumam community to unite and support the two teams that will represent the Kumam cluster.
He said that HRH Papa me Kumam Raphael Otaya has given a blessing to the initiative.

The meeting had a presentation of the draft budget for the organization of the two teams that will represent the Kumam cluster.

However, Hon. Kenneth Obote Ongalo, the State Minister for Teso Affairs, and MP Kalaki county together with the Chairperson LCV Kalaki Hon. Moses Oriada who joined the technical meeting, pledged total support to the Kumam cluster teams in the tournament, and called for unity.

The 2026 Ateker Cup of Nations which is Organized by the Ateker Sports & Arts Foundation is scheduled to take place from August 16 to 22 in Soroti City, Uganda, and is aimed at uniting the Ateker communities to promote peace, unity, and cultural exchange.
